Piano Lesson Policies

New Students

- New families must sign a copy of this policy sheet. This will be considered a contract.

- All new students must commit to one month of lessons. This encourages students to give lessons a "fair shot".

- Books and any other supplies will be provided by Mrs. Wood the lesson after the level of the student is determined. Costs for supplies will be included in the first bill.

- Mrs. Wood will only travel to homes for lessons if there are 3 or more students in the home that will be taking lessons. There will not be the $5 discount for these students.

Attendance

- Students are expected to arrive on time for lessons. If a student comes late, that time will not be made up at a make-up lesson.

- Even if a student is 15 minutes late, we can fit in as much as possible in the remaining time.

- If a student is 20 or more minutes late to a lesson, that lesson will be considered "missed" and must be made up, or no credit will be given.

- Students are expected to come to lessons with all their books and supplies. If a students forgets these supplies, either books will be provided for the lesson, or the lesson will focus on improving theory and sight reading skills. There are no "wasted" lessons.

Payment

- Lessons are $25 per half hour.

- For a family of 3 or more students, there will be a $5 total discount. (Exception: students who have lessons in their homes)

- All payments must be made in check form.

- Monthly invoices will be sent via e-mail or hand delivery the week before each new month. Also, the invoices will be given in paper form to each family the day the payment is due.

- All lessons for the month will be due at the first lesson of each new month.

- There will be a $5 charge for each late payment. This fee will be included in the next month's bill.

- Notice of planned absences (i.e. vacations, appointments, etc.) must be given before or the day of the first lesson of the new month. That planned absence will not be billed; however, if notice is given after the first lesson of the month, that missed lesson will need to be made up, or it will not be credited.

Make-up Lessons

- Missed lessons will be made up the last Saturday of each month.

- Families must look on my online calendar and sign up for an available time slot.

- If lessons are not made up on the last Saturday of the month, that missed lesson will not be credited to the next month.

My Cancellations

- As a working musician, I do expect to cancel lessons once in a while in order to take any "gigs". If I cancel a lesson after the monthly payment is made, there will be no make-up lessons. I will simply credit that missed lesson to the next month's bill.
