Missy has spent the past two years teaching elementary music at Lake Worth Christian School in Boynton Beach, Florida. She teaches Pre-K through 4th grades. In the classroom, Missy focuses on the foundations of music. Counting and clapping and rhythm sticksare used to develop rhythm skills. Students also play games and exercises to learn notes on the staff. CD examples are played to teach expression, dynamics, and the instrument families.
Missy also understands how important singing is to young students. Her students learn many songs throughout the year that are fun and appropriate to their age and interest levels. Her 3rd and 4th grade students are taught the recorder, and Missy arranges all the recorder music for class.
She has music directed 4 shows at LWCS and is currently working on the spring musical. These shows include "Christmas in Reverse", "Fish Tales", "Wise Guys and the Starry Skies", and a patriotic Presidents' Day program. For these shows, Missy acts as a teacher, accompanist, set and costume designer, director, conductor, cheoreographer, and acting coach.
Missy also leads music at the school's weekly chapels.
